Author Coaching
Our author coaching is a highly adaptable service. We will meet you where you are, when you need us, in any way we can help. This service is like having an editor and ghostwriter “on call” to address your most pressing needs.
Author coaching may include verbal or written guidance to develop your book, perhaps starting with an outline and revising a chapter at a time. It may involve direct editing or ghostwriting parts of your manuscript. Or it could include advising on other elements of your platform such as speaking opportunities, short written materials (like magazine articles), video scripting, and more. At times, you may also choose to involve us in strategy meetings for other aspects of publishing, such as marketing and design.
In our coaching, we typically set up a retainer, and we can then meet with you by Zoom or phone, or simply correspond via email to address your writing, editing, and publishing needs.
How do I know if I need an editor, a ghostwriter, or an author coach?
Great question! It can be hard to know what sort of help you’ll need, especially if this is your first book. Generally speaking, we suggest:
An editor can help if you’ve completed the first draft of your book. When you’ve done as much self-editing as possible, a professional editor can work with you to bring your manuscript to the next level.
A ghostwriter can help if you lack the time, writing ability, or motivation to produce the book in your head, or if you simply prefer to work with a professional writer who will create the best version of your story or idea.
An author coach can help if you would like on-call guidance while working on your book. We can guide you in writing and editing, proposal crafting, or other publishing questions.
